COVID-19: PRIORITY REPORT

The highly complicated, detailed, and strenuous process of coming to a decision to postpone the 78th International General Assembly because of the Covid-19 pandemic was a history-making event in the Church of God. It was the first time since World War II that the Assembly schedule was interrupted.

To preserve that history, a 28-page publication has been released which explores the process, timeline, historical precedence, and authority granted by the Minutes to arrive at the decision to postpone the July 2020 event to the summer of 2022. 78TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY ANNOUNCEMENT

Cleveland, TN – The International Executive Council of the Church of God met in their regularly-scheduled spring session on Monday, April 20, 2020, where they made the historic decision to postpone the 78th International General Assembly until 2022.

INFORMATION REGARDING STIMULUS LEGISLATION

The $2.2 trillion stimulus package, called the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), was signed into law by President Trump on Friday, March 27. As previously noted, the legislation contains a revamped loan program through the Small Business Administration (SBA). While historically SBA loans are not available to churches, because of the current coronavirus pandemic, the legislation made an exception and allows nonprofits/churches to receive these governmental guaranteed loans.
